Overview:
  • DevOps Engineer in New York, NY
  • 6 month contract
Responsibilities/Requirements:
  • Deploy and manage cloud environments, mostly through automation and not old school manually
  • Improve the security posture of the product - e.g. (automate) patching; facilitate security scans, reviews, and approvals; analyze logs etc
  • Implement, manage, and continuously fine-tune monitoring & logging for the product
  • Refine and manage the DevOps toolchain instance and dev pipelines (in Jenkins)
  • Working with developers, tech leads, the architect, and testers to make their life easier and make them as productive as possible
  • Solution and infrastructure delivery methodologies including traditional SDLC and Agile
  • Extensive experience with CI/CD processes and associated tools (e.g. Jenkins, Teamcity, Gitlab, Github, Jira, Confluence, Rally, Bamboo, Slack, Sonarqube)
  • Hands-on experience with automation frameworks (e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Ansible)
  • Experience with one or more of the major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Deep expertise in the Linux stack as well as open source tools
  • Prior experience in software development/coding and appreciation of the SDLC desired
  • Strong desire to keep learning, maintain own skill set, stay up to date and expand one’s knowledge across the full stack
  • Desire to improve the ‘status quo’, especially automating repeated manual steps and using technology to drive business benefit
  • Desire to ensure business services are always ‘up’ and performing well… underpinned by meaningful metrics
  • Flexible and team focused working style within a multi-skilled team
  • Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success automating workflows and identifying process improvements, which includes the following areas:
  • Managing and analyzing existing processes to identify automation opportunities across multiple platforms and technologies; 
  • Leading the development and maintenance of automated processes
  • Managing and maintaining a portfolio of automation scripts
  • Conducting impact analysis of any application or infrastructure changes that interact with automation and make associated script changes and updates
  • Developing reporting to measure the effectiveness of automated processes;
  • Having the flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change
  • Researching and using analytical skills and ability to pull out relevant data/information and provide synopses for stakeholders
  • Understanding the value of logs
